For seven seasons between and , True Blood was the destination for all fans of twisted, uncensored, and insanely soapy vampire drama. Following dozens of attractive of people who did bad things whenever possible, regardless of whether they were a vampire or not, the series was as soapy as it was addictive — and as infuriating as it was filled to the brim with far too many characters. Boasting a series-spanning love square unlike any other HBO drama, True Blood was renowned for its ability to test the patience of fans, and to ruin and redeem characters at the drop of a hat, whenever it really felt like it. However, regardless of whether you were Team Bill, Team Eric, Team Alcide, or maybe even Team “sick and tired of Sookie Stackhouse,” there’s one thing that can be agreed upon. The star power that the series amassed is still impressive as ever ten years after its premiere, especially as certain cast members’ stars are only continuing to rise within the world of Hollywood. In a show with an ever expanding cast, it’s hard to narrow things down to a manageable list of familiar faces and names. However, here, we’ve tried to pull together a list of some of the most recognizable and iconic characters to check in on all these years later. Having been made a vampire around the time of the Civil War, Bill has been a native of the steamy town of Bon Temps for as long as he has been alive and undead.
The Final Romance Won’t Follow The Books
But something is wrong: Newspapers drift in the steamy air; fruit stands and flower stalls are overturned; graffiti assaults signs and a courthouse statue; and trash and clothes litter streets and lawns. A force of nature? Cast and crew of the show, based on Charlaine Harris’ best-selling Sookie Stackhouse stories, were in Louisiana to soak up the antebellum atmosphere of Clinton, a community of 2, people, 30 miles north of Baton Rouge.
Main Street and the town’s courthouse, surrounded by sprawling, moss-covered oak trees, were perfect as backdrops for the tale of vampires living among humans, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood. The sticky heat, mossy greenery, white columned houses and slow-moving lifestyle also added to the allure, and gave a dimension and authenticity to the series that can only be captured here.
We can’t pretend to know where their story is headed, but this supernatural super couple (played by real-life married couple Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin) will.

Sookie was created by Charlaine Harris. Harris stated that she decided to “shake up [her] writing style by trying something new”. And since people had told me for years that I had a great sense of humor, I thought it would be interesting to try to include that in the book, too”. When naming the character Harris decided to use her grandmother’s best friend’s name because “it was a fine old Southern nickname, I thought it would do well for my heroine.
And “Stackhouse” just flowed right after it”. Young Sookie was present in a couple episodes, with multiple actresses playing the character’s younger self, including actress Lily Bigham. To make Sookie more interesting as Harris would have “to live with Sookie” while writing, she decided to have the character start a relationship with a vampire as an introduction to a foreign world.
Harris then decided she would have to establish a reason “sensible Sookie” would “do such a crazy thing” which led to her giving Sookie the power of telepathy. She explained this further saying, “it would just be absolutely horrible to know what people really thought about you. I think she does a great job, but she’s just not my Sookie”.
